Squealing Elevator

In the evening of Dec 31st 2006. One of the elevators in Building D stopped working. It is stuck on floor 18. The elevator has an alarm that produces a high pitched squeal. The elevator is still producing that loud high pitched squeal as of mid day Jan 01, 2007. We were contacted by residents and checked it out. The elevator is stuck and squealing its alarm throughout the halls. We've had a chance to check on it so why haven't repair personnel?

Its inconvenient for sure to have an elevator go down on new years eve. But you think CityPlace security would at least check it out. We have a report of a resident calling security only to be blown off by the night guy who does not, or pretends not to, speak English. We stood in the elevator ourselves and pressed the alarm phone button. The person on the other end says "I cant hear you, there's a squealing noise in the background". Yes, that would be the alarm .... stunning.

How long will it take for CityPlace to fix (or at least check) the elevator? I guess residents should just enjoy the high pitched squeal until the next business day? Has anyone even looked at it? We have a suspicion that all security has to do it lock it off to stop that alarm. Surely there is a way to disable the broken elevator and stop the noise. But CityPlace does not operate that way. They left it squealing thru the night. It can be heard in units. We've had 3 separate complaints so far.

Looking to buy in Harbour View Estates, 5 Mariner Terrace? I suggest you get down there and take a look. View the incompetence first hand as it happens.

The elevators have been a problem from day one. Lately the elevator door has been opening and closing about 3 times per floor it stops on. That was the warning sign. That went ignored so now the elevator is stuck with the alarm ringing away. This is being ignored too. What a lovely value for residents money.

** UPDATE: at about 2pm Jan 01, 2007, security figured out they could indeed shut the alarm off. All night of ignoring the problem when all they had to do was take their key up and lock the elevator off. How did they discover the solution? By simply trying. That's all that needed to be done - TRY. The night shift couldn't be bothered to even look at it. Hello strata? Time to weed the garden. Fire Maria and John and get someone in who can actually manage a team. The current management has blundered and lied enough times to justify being fired many times over. Keeping Maria and John is bending over and begging for it. Thanks to all who keep us up to date. Without complaint these problems will never be addressed.
