Another Cold morning Nov 11th 2006. One week after the first heating failure. A resident called down to find out what had happened and was told no one else was complaining. The security guard on duty, Debbie (CityPlace calls them concierge but they call themselves "security") told the resident that nothing could be done even if the heat was down. It was Saturday and they'd just have to wait until Monday. More residents must have complained as soon the truth started to surface. Indeed some people were working on the heating system and had shut it down. No notice was posted or given to residents. No one knew why and security didn't even know who was where nor working on what. How people get in and out of a building and into areas like the central air system, without security clearance, is interesting. Obviously anyone could do anything at CityPlace. One could blow the place to the sky before security would catch on. Calls put into Prompton were of little value as Prompton simply calls the same security guard who once again does not know the situation and does not care. Prompton must wonder why a building younger then a full year has such a rental turnover. But then they are not going to raise smoke - they are Concord Adex controlled. In the end it appears that the heat failure Nov 11th may have been planned routine maintenance or leftover business from the previous week. No one knows for sure. The building management company simply doesn't know or isn't willing to notify people. The concierge (who is really $10/hr security guards) gets no better communication from Management then residents do but get to take the angry calls and frustration. Its no wonder the security guards at CityPlace change like underwear. So why do the residents of CityPlace put up with this? Many are trying to sell, the rentals have extreme turn around rate, the wheels of discontent are in motion. The strata does not appear to have much ability to handle the situation. Judging by the resident average its likely the strata council lacks the experience and abilities to understand they need to oust the current management ASAP and get the house of cards in order before the last 3 blow away. |
